London to … Las Vegas!

Las Vegas is like nowhere else on the planet and holds the well-deserved title as the entertainment capital of the world, complete with glamorous hotels and casinos and a wealth of bars and restaurants. More and more holidaymakers are choosing to visit this dynamic city every year, meaning Las Vegas is becoming a mecca for hen and stag parties, birthday celebrations and honeymoons alike.

You can jump on a flight to Las Vegas from most of the London airports, as well as Newcastle and Leeds Bradford airports, although for a considerably higher price. The flight time is approximately 10 hours, and there are regular flights throughout the week. It is possible to pick up a fare for as little as £400 return with an advance booking.

With many flights leaving in the morning you might want to consider staying in one of the many hotels near Gatwick or Heathrow airports. The cheapest option for travelling to Heathrow would be to go by the Underground. There is a fast train from Victoria Station to Gatwick Airport.

Once You’re There

Want to escape gambling and casinos and see what else Las Vegas has to offer? It is easy to get caught up in the glitz and glamour of the city but remember it wasn’t always like this. In fact, Las Vegas is just over a hundred-years-old with a history that is intertwined with that of Mexico, the growth of Mormonism and the Utah War, western pioneering and the enormous Hoover Dam and Manhattan projects.

It is in this vast desert that a helicopter tour over the area has now become one of the most popular tourist attractions. Conversely, if you want to find out about what it was really like to live in the Wild West you can go on a cowboy horseback tour! A helicopter tour will also carry you across the city for about $115 (£75). This is a memorable experience and you will certainly want to take your camera. Or, if you have a license and want to see the city a different way, you might want to rent a motorbike for your stay in Las Vegas. Although this can be a wonderful way to explore the city, the traffic can be heavy on most of the main roads.

If you are a lover of cars you will definitely want to visit the Auto Collections at The Quad on Las Vegas Boulevard. Here you will find cars from all around the world including plenty of classics. It is probably the most impressive collection of cars you are ever going to see. Or if classic cars don’t take your fancy maybe fast ones will? Las Vegas is home to many great films made about The Mob. The mafia is the most well-known criminal organisation in the world, and their inner workings have proved a fascinating subject, in books and films, most notably The Godfather trilogy. The Mob Museum is well worth a visit if you want to find out more about this notorious gang.
